Cutie Honey

Honey Kisaragi is a normal catholic schoolgirl. That is, until her father was murdered by the Panther Claw who were seeking the Airborne Elemental Fixation Device. She then finds out that she is actually an android created by him with the Airborne Elemental Fixation Device within her. She is now trying to live a life as a normal schoolgirl and seeking revenge against Panther Claw. -- -- Originally meant as a magical girl series, but the timeslot the anime version was on was switched; therefore, it had to be changed for a 'shonen' demographic. Ultimately, Honey ended up being not a magical girl series (due to her transformation being based on science fiction, although because of multiple similarites Honey is often treated as part of the Toei magical girl lineup) but rather an early example of a series with a female lead that would have her exposed before and during battle for a male audience.
